MEET YOUR NEW KING

And in the thirty-ninth year of his reign, Asa became diseased in his feet, and his malady was severe; yet in his disease he did not seek the LORD, but the physicians (II Chron. 16: 12).

In a conference last year, God spoke to me that King Asa represented the Charismatic movement. This movement began its reign in the body of Christ in the mid to late 60’s. Catholics and Protestants, Church of Christ and Baptists, Methodists and Lutherans, all came together in a great surge as literally millions of people received the baptism of the Holy Spirit with corresponding gifts of speaking in tongues, prophecy, and healing. This historical renewal had received its birth a few years earlier, but it began to exercise a certain kingdom rule during the 1960’s. During this thirty-nine year reign, we have seen various sub-movements of the Holy Spirit, ranging from the Faith Movement of the 70’s to the Apostolic Kingdom development we are experiencing now. But here we are, in the 39th, now going on fortieth, year, and “Houston, we have a problem.” Like Asa, this movement is diseased in its feet, a serious sickness.

Asa started out as a good king. He dealt with some of the idolatry, even removing his mother because she had made an obscene image of Asherah, one of the cultural demons. And true to the type, the Charismatic movement had to deal with the deadness of its mother denominations. Many came out of dead churches; others stayed and saw their churches revitalized. Those who tried to have it both ways, one foot in the dead church and the other in the renewal, rarely went on into true spiritual maturity.

But here we are now, nearing the end of Asa’s forty-one year reign. The house of Asa has a diseased authority, represented by the feet.

After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' assistant, saying: “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them--the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses” (Joshua 1:1-3)

Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you (Luke 10:19).

As this reign of Asa closes, what is the state of the church?

The divorce rate is higher in the church than out.
Homosexuality has increased.
Abortion still permeates the landscape.
Pornography proliferates.
Poverty and hunger stare us in the face.
Terrorism and Islamic fanaticism loom larger than ever.
The media has a greater voice than most of the church.
The school systems regulate the education of our children, not the Bible.
We see a few miracles but not many. We have a few prophecies, but not many.
Mega churches thrive with great buildings and seeker-friendly programs; churches dot every neighborhood, religion now plants itself in the news and in politics, and yet here we are; inept in changing our world.

We have the trappings of the throne, but we cannot rule with much authority.

Admit it, Charismatic movement. You are sick in your feet. You have a throne, but little power to administer the kingdom or righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

GOT YOUR SUCCESS BUT LOST YOUR AUTHORITY

In the thirty-sixth year of the reign of Asa, Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah and built Ramah, that he might let none go out or come in to Asa king of Judah. Then Asa brought silver and gold from the treasuries of the house of the Lord and of the king's house, and sent to Ben-Hadad king of Syria, who dwelt in Damascus, saying, “Let there be a treaty between you and me, as there was between my father and your father. See, I have sent you silver and gold; come, break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel, so that he will withdraw from me.”

So Ben-Hadad heeded King Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel. They attacked Ijon, Dan, Abel Maim, and all the storage cities of Naphtali. Now it happened, when Baasha heard it, that he stopped building Ramah and ceased his work. Then King Asa took all Judah, and they carried away the stones and timber of Ramah, which Baasha had used for building; and with them he built Geba and Mizpah.

And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said to him: “Because you have relied on the king of Syria, and have not relied on the Lord your God, therefore the army of the king of Syria has escaped from your hand. Were the Ethiopians and the Lubim not a huge army with very many chariots and horsemen? Yet, because you relied on the Lord, He delivered them into your hand. For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. In this you have done foolishly; therefore from now on you shall have wars.”

Then Asa was angry with the seer, and put him in prison, for he was enraged at him because of this. And Asa oppressed some of the people at that time (II Chronicles 16: 1-10).

Recap: At this time in Israel’s history, it was two versus ten, Judah and Benjamin against the other ten tribes. Asa and Judah felt constrained when Baasha and Israel built a city on a high hill in Judah, one that restricted travel in their territory. So, Asa bought off Syria from Israel. When Syria attacked several cities in Israel, Baasha backed away and let Judah alone again.

But here is the major problem. God sent Hanani the seer to Asa with a word of chastisement from the Lord. God said that Judah had relied on Syria and not Him for protection. In fact, He had allowed Syria to come into that land so they could be destroyed. And because of the foolish disobedience of Asa, he would end his reign with wars.

One of the most difficult words to give a person or group of people is one that addresses a method or practice that is not from the Lord but has proven to bring apparent success. Asa’s decision to rely on Syria brought deliverance to Judah. They took the building material from that city and built two other cities, one, Mizpah, meaning “watchtower” with a root word meaning “watchman.” A case could easily be made in Biblical typology that Asa took the spoils of Ramah and made room for a watchman’s ministry, in this case a tainted place of the prayer and the prophetic. So, they gained deliverance, freedom to travel, expansion, and more ministry.

Here is the problem with the Charismatic Renewal and it’s current reign. Many of the methods and paradigms have brought apparent success. It has made the kingdom look bigger, the crowds larger, and the programs more effective. But some of this success has come with a serious cost—diseased feet. The throne looks regal with its flowery regalia, but the level of holiness, purity, and authority has been diminished. Pomp and pride flourish; power falters.

THIS NEW KING AIN’T A KID

AND NOW FOR THIS LATE BREAKING BULLETIN: Asa’s reign is getting ready to die.

Here is the next step. I believe it is one of most significant words I have received in many years.

Then Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place, and strengthened himself against Israel (II Chronicles 17:1).

Jehoshaphat is the gluing together of the words Jehovah and shaphat. It literally means, “The Lord Who Judges.”

There is a new government about to overtake the Asa/Charismatic Renewal type of government. It will not be business as usual. It will not have the same values as at the end of Asa. This government will not succumb to the compromises and practices of Asa.

Church and world. Get ready to meet your next king: THE LORD WHO JUDGES.
Get ready to meet the one aspect of the kingdom of God you have not seen very much: GOD, THE JUDGE.

He has been hidden in the palace of Asa. He knows all about Asa, has seen his spirit, his beginnings and his downfall. He has seen his father’s practices and the fruit of those practices. He was fathered by Asa, but he is not of the same spirit. He has ascended to the throne for a major purpose—to bring justice and judgment back as a restorational truth to the body of Christ.

There was a faith movement to restore faith, a prophetic movement to restore prophecy, an apostolic movement to restore apostles. There was a Martin Luther to initiate salvation by faith, a Wesleyan revival to restore holiness, and a Pentecostal outpouring to restore the gifts of the Holy Spirit. And now we come to the next restorational truth—the release of judgment and justice.

RESTORING THE FEAR OF THE LORD

Each movement has its own characteristic and aspect of the kingdom. The healing revival of the late 1940’s and 1950’s brought back healing. The Toronto Blessing of the mid 1990’s brought in laughter and joy. But this Jehoshophat reign will have as its main component the fear of the Lord. Fierce signs and wonders will accompany it. Many will fall on their knees in conviction of sin, carnality, and disobedience. Some will wail as the glorious splendor of heaven meets up with the degradation of religion and impurity. Mourning and lamenting will return to the church as God comes on the scene as Judge.

Now the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the former ways of his father David; he did not seek the Baals, but sought the God of his father, and walked in His commandments and not according to the acts of Israel. Therefore the Lord established the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah gave presents to Jehoshaphat, and he had riches and honor in abundance (II Chron. 17:3-5).

When God shows up as judge, He is going to reward those who will not succumb to the practices of carnal Christianity. Notice that Jehoshaphat did not use the format of his immediate father Asa as his example; he went back to the purity and paradigms of David. If this new generation uses the example of our immediate predecessor, we may inherit the same spirit and practices that God is about to judge. We should always honor our spiritual fathers, but we must also carefully examine some of the practices that have become so common in our day, most of which center around the use of money, pride, and control.

While Jehoshaphat is under the reign of Asa, he cannot be showered with the blessings due him. But when he gets on the throne, his day comes. Those who have labored in purity and holiness, although unrecognized, will find that the God of justice will greatly restore as heaven’s arsenal is opened for them. The kingdom is about to be established for those who will move in the realm of God as Judge. Great riches and honor will come to make up for the years of hardship and obscurity.

And the fear of the Lord fell on all the kingdoms of the lands that were around Judah, so that they did not make war against Jehoshaphat (II Chron. 17:10).

What an amazing statement! The fear of the Lord fell so much that even their enemies were afraid to touch them. This next move will see this great truth, so needed in the body of Christ, to emerge with tremendous authority from the throne backing it.

When Annanias and Sapphira fell dead at the feet of the apostles, because of their deception and lies to the Holy Spirit, the next verse depicts the New Testament counterpart of the text above:

So great fear came upon all the church and upon all who heard these things. And through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon’s Porch. Yet none of the rest dared join them, but the people esteemed them highly (Acts 5:11-13).

Please note: The apostles had clean feet. The people were willing to lay their material possessions down at their feet. When the deception came into contact with these feet, it and the bearers of that deception fell dead. God the Judge manifested Himself bringing the fear of the Lord.

THE CROSS, JUSTICE, AND RESTORATION

The following characteristics will be prevalent in this new phase of God’s restorational glory:

1. A deep work of the cross and repentance. Jesus ushered in the kingdom with repentance, From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matt. 4:17).

This will not be a superficial feel good type of Christianity. It will be a soul-stirring, sin-destroying, motive-challenging transformation accompanied by a huge reverential awe of the Lord’s power and grace. God will deal with the motives of God’s people first, then the practices. The He will begin to judge the world. The order will be chastisement, judgment, and then wrath.

2. Manifestation of both sides of the cross. And whoever falls on this stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder (Matt. 21:44).

The stone will fall on those who are not broken before Him. He will begin to cast out of the kingdom all things that offend in order that He can prepare Himself a bride fit for Himself.

3. Judgments on unrighteous leaders, in and out of the pulpit. Some will lose their position. Others will lose their life. All this is really a mercy for the church and those influenced by their leadership. As God removes these leaders, He will give kingdom authority to a new breed of passionate seekers of truth and righteousness.

4. A release of lands, work, and business. II Chronicles 17:12-13:

So Jehosphaphat became increasingly powerful, and he built fortresses and storage cities in Judah. He had much property in the cities of Judah; and the men of war, mighty men of valor, were in Jerusalem.

The word “property” in verse 13 is actually the Hebrew word that means “business, occupation, or work”. Its root word means a “messenger or deputy”, commonly translated as “angel”.

Let me see if I can see a progression here. God the Judge brings His judgments which release a fear of the Lord. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. This greater wisdom becomes the foundation for a mighty bestowing of property, greater employment opportunities, and phenomenal business transactions.

The release of the wealth of the wicked, as prophesied by many, hinges on two overlooked aspects. First, this wealth will only come to people who can wisely handle it. Second, it will take God’s justice to tear it from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of righteousness. This season is swiftly coming upon us. It will be executed as angels go forth to take from the wicked and bring to the righteous. (Robin Hood, eat your heart out.)

5. A true transformation of unjust systems that stifle, oppress, and manipulate. Beginning with the religious systems, going through the economic systems, and changing the civil government systems, God will truly assert Himself as Judge, Lawgiver, and King. Nothing will be untouched. Dictators will die. Pompous preachers and politicians will pass on. Racists will run. Tycoons will turn. This will not be an easy time for Wall Street, Bourbon Street, or Main Street.

6. A mighty kingdom overthrow resulting in a model of love, righteousness, and holiness in and out of the organized church. When Joshua marched against Jericho, the giants of wickedness were overthrown and replaced by the people of righteousness. Likewise, history has proven that as Christianity has moved into the regions of darkness, societies have been bettered. Where Christianity has been allowed to flourish in one degree or another, there are better hospitals to care for the sick, fairer laws to execute justice, greater liberty for women and minorities, and freedom of religion for all. But the outbreak of God’s government comes through judgment and justice.

Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this (Isa 9:7).

7. The unveiling of a holy bride, made pure and spotless for Him. Jesus is probably hiding behind the Father’s throne right now telling God, “Father, I can’t marry that woman down there right now. She’s a mess!” God is about to clean up the mess, making His church fit for His son. As Eve was taken out of Adam and he could say, “She’s just like me!” the church will return back to the side of Jesus in the same manner. “She’s just like me!” will be the calling card of the crucified Lamb beholding His glorious bride. Only then will He come. All endtime charts do not mean a thing without the transformation of the bride into His likeness. Judgment and justice will play a major role in this process.

So, let this new reign begin. Then we may say with James (5:9b): Behold, the Judge is standing at the door!

The following is a prophetic word given by the Lord through Anne Fees on January 21, 2007, at Zion Life Church in Plano, TX. The Lord said this is a Word for the whole Body of Christ.

I feel like the Lord is saying that this year He is wanting us to gather even closer, and become even tighter into His Presence and into His Holiness. He is wanting to pour into us so more can flow out of us.

He’s gonna go deep, deep, He’s gonna go so deep and you’ll think, oh God, I can stand it, I can’t take any more. And He’s gonna go even deeper and He’s gonna uproot, and He’s gonna pull out everything, everything that does not belong there.

And we thank you Father for what you will place into us…after the uprooting, after you’ve plowed. After you’ve been able to get into the crusty places, into those places that we have told you No, No, No, You can’t have, You can’t have or, No, I don’t want to look at that, I don’t want to look at that. But, He’s gonna go in and He’s gonna put His anesthesia into you. It won’t hurt. You’ll know, you’ll feel the tugging and you’ll feel the pulling, but it won’t hurt. And He’s gonna weed out everything, and He’s asking us, “Will you allow me to do this?” “Will you allow me to pour more of Me into you so that you can go into this world? For the harvest is ready. And I’m wanting to have more laborers. But my laborers have so many things inside of them that needs to come out before they can go out.”

We thank you Father, thank you Lord. He says, “You have not chosen me, but I, I have chosen you. I have chosen a people. I have chosen you.

Dear Lord, help me to be a pure and spotless bride, ready to meet her bridegroom. Remove all pride and every stain. Let me be pure and holy, ready to meet you. In Jesus name, Amen.
