Easter Day Prayer
Alleluia! Alleluia! Glory to God in the highest! The Lamb of God has destroyed the sting of death! He is risen! He is risen indeed! Rev 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive forevermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
Almighty God, who has set us free through the blood of Christ, we gather to thank You for the life, death and resurrection of Christ Jesus. Our hearts are inflamed with gratitude, joy and freedom. We raise our voices to You with the heavenly host and we praise You that before the foundation of the world, You foreordained those to eternal life who have accepted Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior.
We rise early this morning to see for ourselves that the tomb is empty and could not contain the risen Savior. We gather with other believers to share in our celebration. We tell others of this glorious day as we are commanded to publish the Good News. We bless Your Holy name for Your ways are higher than our ways, and your wisdom is above all. You are truly God who delivered us from the wrath to come.
May we please You, Lord God, in our walk and witness of a risen Savior. May we leave our grave clothes behind and allow You to clothe us in fine white linen. May we carry within us and display to others the joy of our salvation each and every day of the year. May we be holy as You are holy. May we never discredit Your name or put Christ to shame for the love and confidence He has toward. May today be truly a celebration and remembrance of that day You called us to be heirs with Christ. We look forward with longing for the fullness of Christ when we shall meet Him face to face.
With His love and compassion, we pray in Jesus' name. Amen
